  • Primary Subject: Pokemon Champions (Launch Version / Season 1)
  • Key Update: The meta for this new battle-centric title is currently dominated by high-utility support Pokemon like Sinistcha and Incineroar, which leverage entry abilities to control the field.
  • Status: Confirmed
  • Last Verified: April 21, 2026
  • Quick answer: Top recruits for Pokemon Champions include Incineroar for stat control, Sinistcha for healing, and Pelipper to enable high-accuracy weather-based strategies like Hurricane and Thunder.

It goes without saying, but competitive Pokemon battling is an entirely different realm from the casual NPC fights you may even have mastered from past titles. They're a bit more intense but infinitely more strategic, and that's what makes it fun, albeit demanding.

With Pokemon Champions setting up to be the main avenue for the whole competitive scene moving forward, it is important to know which Pokemon should you recruit to best help you enter, and even possibly dominate, the online arena of Pokemon Champions.

What Are The Best Pokemon To Recruit In Pokemon Champions?

These Pokemon, as strong as they are, have been known names in the competitive scene even way before Pokemon Champions was announced, but if you're not in the loop, you're in luck. Some of the most dominant creatures include the adorable but equally battle-heated Sinistcha, the weather-setting Pelipper, the infamous Incineroar, and more! Keep reading to see what Pokemon can help you climb the ranks and truly become a Pokemon Champion!

As mentioned above, this matcha cutie is also a beast in battle. First off, its ability Hospitality allows it to restore 1/4 of its ally's HP every time it enters battle. That in itself makes it the ultimate support by healing its allies just by pivoting in and out of battle.

On top of that, its moves also make it extra interesting with Trick Room to make slow-moving Pokemon move first, Strength Sap to lower opponent Attack stat and gain HP, and of course Matcha Gotcha that deals 80 damage with a 20% possibility of burning the opponent's Pokemon while also healing teammates. A must-have supporter!

Pelipper

Rain teams in competitive Pokemon battling have been a dominant force since they were first introduced, and the same can be said for Pokemon Champions. The goal is to set up the rain weather conditions to activate effects that only work in rain, like Thunder and Hurricane hitting accurately and speeding up some water-type Pokemon.

Pelipper does this best because its ability Drizzle allows it to set up rain upon entering battle, and it has Hurricane to complement that. It also has Tailwind to boost your team's Speed stat, Protect to stall, and Weather Ball for STAB water. If others can't, Pelipper can!

Sneasler

Hailing all the way from ancient Hisui, we have Sneasler. This Pokemon's ability, Unburden, doubles its Speed stat when its held item is used or lost, and pairing this ability with White Herb (an item that restores any lowered stat value to its usual) is a godsend.

You can also take advantage of White Herb by lowering your own stats by using Close Combat. This clawed brawler also learns the annoying Fake Out, Protect, and Dire Claw. Now your opponent is juggling between playing defensively and eating status conditions.

Garchomp

This Pokemon has been a staple in many competitive teams and casual playthroughs thanks to its outrageous offensive and speed stats, Cynthia's nightmarish use of one, and, of course, Earthquake. I mean, 100 damage with 100% accuracy, able to hit all Pokemon on the field. Take note, this is a STAB move for Garchomp.

It can also learn Rock Slide to hit multiple Pokemon and possibly flinch them, Protect to, er, protect, and Dragon Claw to wreck your opponents' Pokemon to Sinnoh oblivion.

Whimsicott

Two words: Set-up and utility. This Pokemon is an unbelievably perfect set-up master and an annoying Pokemon to go against. With moves like Helping Hand to boost teammates' stats, Encore to disrupt enemy momentum, and Tailwind to make everything on your side much, much faster, Whimsicott is a secret weapon.

Also, thanks to its Prankster ability, setup moves get first priority, so you can start setting traps and boosting the moment it comes out of its ball. For offense, Moonblast is perfect to take down pesky Dragon-types, Dark-types, and Fighting-types. Never take this Pokemon lightly.

Incineroar

I mean, who didn't see this one coming? There's a reason why even the competitive master WolfeyVGC hates this lucha feline so much. Its ability Intimidate lowers the opponent Pokemon's Attack stat every time it enters the field. So right off the bat, it already controls the power level of the warzone.

Now for its moves? It has Fake Out to wreck your opponent's day, Knock Off for item-swatting option (which is STAB, by the way), Flare Blitz to obliterate anything it faces, and Parting Shot to lower opponent's offense while also switching Incineroar out of danger. Now, do you get why almost everyone runs this on their team?
