Pragmata can't be a hard game to get into. It's like nothing we've ever seen in gaming, with its blend of third-person shooting and real-time puzzles that can definitely make one go haywire.

So, after playing dozens of hours and finishing almost everything Pragmata has to offer, I've come up with some beginner-friendly tips to help you shoot and hack your way through the Cradle.

Pragmata Beginner Tips

These tips are general recommendations to help you get better at the game. They're not meant to tell you exactly how to play. Let's begin.

You Don't Need To Complete Hacks In A Single Phase

One thing the game doesn't tell you is that hacks don't have to be completely immediate.

You can pop up a hacking grid with Diana, get it halfway or almost complete, and if you find yourself juggling too much, simply stop, reposition, and pick back up right where you left off.

Of course, the exception is if you get interrupted, this will reset your hacking progress. This happens when you hit a red node, or Hugh gets hurt.

Don't Waste Hacking Nodes If You Don't Need To

In the heat of combat, your primary instinct is to pass through as many hacking nodes as possible, regardless of enemy. The more you play, the more you'll develop an instinct to know when to do it.

Each new biome will be challenged with harder and harder AI bots looking to dispose of Hugh and Diana. Try to save your nodes for situations where you'll actually need them. You don't want to waste those multihacking nodes when facing a singular Lancer, do you?

Learn How To Make The Most Out Of Hacking Modes

Hacking Modes change how Diana's hacking grid functions, adding different buffs and ways to exploit enemy weaknesses. But something I've noticed is that a few players don't know how each of them functions, so take the time to experiment with each and learn how to make the most of them.

A quick example I can give you is the Offense Mode, which will reward you for racking up damage from Hugh's weapons while hacking exposed enemies. Passing through nodes and shooting will increase the damage done by the next hack. You can rack up some serious damage, and it's the best way to get the 6k damage from a single hack trophy in Pragmata.

Don't Neglect Cabin's Stamps

At first glance, this might seem like a bit of gameplay padding, but the Cabin's Stamps hide a ton of good stuff you will be needing while trying to take down the late-game bosses, so better get those Cabin Coins.

All four stamps have exclusive hacking nodes, and you'll even get three new weapons. The Freeze (Stamp 1) and Drain (Stamp 3) are perhaps the most useful.

If You Want The True Ending, Be Thorough

Pragmata has a "secret" ending that only completionists will get to experience. If you wish to do so, I recommend that, during your first playthrough, you clear as much side content as possible, as one of the requirements is to 100% every biome.

You can go back and mop up challenges or content you missed once you're done, but doing so while completing your first playthrough will make things feel much smoother.
