Battlefield 6 is the latest entry in this well-known franchise, which means fans are on the lookout for any easter eggs that reference older games. While it might seem odd seeing easter eggs for a military shooter, this series has been around long enough to make fans sentimental. A very interesting easter egg was recently discovered, and it references Battlefield Heroes, of all things.
Fans have discovered a speaker in one of the indoor areas of the Battlefield 6 beta, which plays the theme song of Battlefield Heroes on repeat. The sound is surprisingly decent, showing that EA did have something with this odd spinoff. Gamers have mostly positive reactions, as seeing the devs reference this forgotten title is humorous.
While Battlefield 6 is a fairly serious military shooter, Battlefield Heroes was a free-to-play game made with an all-ages approach. It might sound odd trying to sell a military shooter to kids, even one with cute designs and PG gameplay, but keep in mind that Fortnite exists. This all-ages title was released in 2009, but was then delisted in 2015.
Interestingly enough, fan servers have kept Battlefield Heroes alive, so anyone nostalgic for this shooter can try it out if they know where to look. Granted, the shooter might be a bit dated when compared to more recent titles, but there’s still some fun to be had here. Modern fans might not care about it too much, but there is a novelty in seeing what EA deemed child-friendly for a shooter.
Considering how Battlefield 6 is still in its open beta phase, we’re sure more of these easter eggs will be added in the future. It will be interesting to see how they can pay tribute to the other games, since the gameplay style is already a sign of this series going back to its roots. Maybe we can see a job or two at 2042, since EA and the devs really botched that shooter’s release.
