Age of Empires 4: How to Change Language

Age of Empires 4 is the latest instalment in the series, with the last game having been over a decade ago. There is a wealth of new features, fancy graphics and updated UI. Some of this can be a little finicky to get used to, even for experienced players. For those who need to change their game to a preferred language, we've explained exactly how to do so in this guide.

Changing Language on the Xbox App

Changing language in Age of Empires 4 differs a little between Windows 10 and 11 when using the Xbox App. We've explained how to adjust your preferred language in both below:

Windows 10

• Open your system settings with the Microsoft Store and Xbox App both closed.
• Select 'Time & Language', then 'Language & Region'.
• Select 'Add a Language', then select your language from the 'Preferred Languages' drop down.
• If your language is already under your preferred languages, then simply move it to the top of the list for the relevant language pack to be installed and it to be active in game.

Windows 11

• Open your system settings with the Xbox App closed.
• Select 'Time & Language', then 'Language & Region'.
• Move your preferred language above English, then the relevant language pack will be installed and active in game.

Changing Language on Steam

To change your language in Age of Empires 4 using Steam, follow the below instructions:

• Make sure Age of Empires 4 is not running, and that your Steam Library is open.
• From the library page, left click Age of Empires 4, then select 'Manage' and 'Properties'.
• Navigate to the 'Language' tab.
• Using the drop-down menu, simply select the language you would prefer to use.
• Provided that Age of Empires 4 supports your preferred language, the relevant language pack will install and then be active in-game.
