Xbox Wants to Partner With Casual Game Devs


Following his statement regarding Xbox's plans to acquire more independent game studios, Phil Spencer revealed more news about Xbox's plans for the future. In an interview with Bloomberg, Spencer said he wants to partner with game studios to deliver games with a casual focus.

“When I think about the kinds of genres that are usually associated with Xbox, yes, we have Roblox, we have Minecraft, we have FIFA and Fortnite, but we want to continue to invest in more social, casual content that’s out there," he said

Xbox Wants To Partner With Game Devs That Produce "Social, Casual Content"

Also last month, Spencer told Wall Street Journal about Xbox's plans to further acquire more game studios to bring them under the Microsoft wing. He said:

“We’re always out there looking for people who we think would be a good match and teams that would be a good match with our strategy... we're definitely not done. There’s no quota. There’s no kind of timeline where I have to go acquire studios by a certain time.”

Spencer also said he's looking to diversify console manufacturing locations to avoid potential shortage issues in the future, though most experts believe console shortage will last at least another year or longer.
