Xbox October Update Adds 4K Dashboard and New Accessibility Options

Two months after Xbox Insider's got an early look at Xbox Series' new features, Microsoft's now released them publicly in a wider system update. Most notably, that upgrades your Xbox Series X dashboard to native 4K resolution, having previously been set to 1080p.

Microsoft's "Night Mode" feature is now available for Xbox Series X|S consoles too, which is great news for those fond of late night sessions. This lets you dim your TV/Monitor through the console, alongside your controller's LED brightness and Xbox power button. An optional blue light filter is also included.

Xbox October Update Adds 4K Dashboard and New Accessibility Options

To make life easier players can set an automatic schedule for Night Mode, one that'll activate at sunset before stopping at sunrise by default. However, you can customise these settings too. To get this setup, you can find that from Settings > AccessibilityNight mode or Settings > TV & display options > Night mode.

Finally, Microsoft's adding their "Quick Settings" menu into the Xbox guide, letting you toggle accessibility features without leaving the game. It's great to see more user-friendly support added into Xbox Series X|S consoles, and we'll keep you informed when the next update drops/
