Oculus Quest V30 Firmware Update Has Begun Rolling Out


Oculus Quest's v30 firmware update has begun rolling out, bringing significant updates regarding voice chat. Facebook's traditional method of gradually rolling out updates over a few weeks, so Oculus Quest/Quest 2 owners will need to check if they've received it.

Notably, this enables a toggle that lets players swap between your party's voice chat and an app you're currently using, which sounds a lot more manageable in principle. That can be accessed from the universal menu, accessible from within any app.

2D apps can also be run side-by-side now within Oculus Home, which includes the Explore feature, Store, Oculus Move, Oculus TV and more. To activate that, you'll need to flip the toggle within the Experimental Feature sections inside Settings, then restart your headset. Several new accessibility features are also included, such as the ability to change default text size or colours.

Elsewhere, a "Raise View" feature has also been implemented, letting you experience VR whilst seated from a standing vantage point. Finally, for original Quest users, this update also implements Oculus Air Link, a feature previously exclusive to Quest 2 that allows official wireless PC VR connection.
