Should I wait for the Logitech MX Master 4? If you like to keep on top of the best tech around, then it's a worthwhile question.

With the Logitech MX Master 3 being one of the best mice in just about every respect, even as a gaming mouse, you could grab one of those and be happy about things. If, however, you like knowing you're not going to have to upgrade for a long time, then waiting for the Logitech MX Master 4 might make sense.

It's expected, but not confirmed, that the follow-up to this will be the Logitech MX Master 4, much in the same way we're expecting an Xbox Elite Controller 3. The big question is then, should you wait? Let's find out...

Should I wait for the Logitech MX Master 4?

So let's break this down a little, as there are a few factors that should play into your decision here. Let's start with exactly how long you'd have to wait, or at least, how long we're predicting you will.

Logitech MX Master 4 Release Date Predictions

So right now, there's no official release date for the Logitech MX Master 4, however, we can try and figure out when it will be based on the previous entries.

The Logitech MX Master 2 was released back in 2017, with the MX 3 released in September 2019. If we follow this pattern, we're actually overdue for the MX Master 4 release, so what's going on here?

TOP DOG: The MX 3 still reigns supreme

2021 was a tough year for many reasons, which could have played a part, but we'd also imagine that sales of the Logitech MX Master 3 went through the roof with more people working from home than ever.

Perhaps it wasn't in their best interest to release a new mouse at this time, but we're only theorizing here - the big question is, when will it be released?

We'd say to expect the Logitech MX Master 4 to be released either late this year or early next if we were to throw our hat in the ring.

Logitech MX Master 4 specs predictions

So we don't know the features just yet, obviously, but based on the improvements from the MX Master 2 to the MX Master 3 we'd imagine that we'll get an even better wheel, more button mapping options, different colourways, and a new design that remains highly ergonomic.

The MX Master 3 ticks all the boxes, so it's hard to see exactly what they'd improve on from a technical perspective. Perhaps it will be more of a superficial change, which we'd be excited for regardless.

Logitech MX Master 4 price predictions

So this is the big one, what price tag are we looking at? Well, the MX Master 3 currently sits at around $120 right now and falls into the sales regularly too.

We'd predict that the Logitech MX Master 4 would be anywhere between $130 - $150 when it is released based on the MX 3.

So should you wait for it?

We'd say, that if you're looking to make a meaningful update to your current setup, then you should go ahead with the Logitech MX Master 3 instead, and there are a few reasons why.

First off, we think the changes to the MX Master 4 won't be massive in terms of functionality. In fact, we're predicting it will be mostly an aesthetic change. The difference in design between the MX 2 and MX 3 was actually rather stark, but we still think the MX 3 holds its own even now.

The other point is that you can actually get the MX 3 for less throughout the year, especially so on Black Friday and Prime Day. We've seen it fall to around $70, which isn't much for something that can have a huge impact on the daily.

Of course, this may all change once we get a glimpse of the Logitech MX Master 4, but for now, stick with the MX 3 and its ultrafast scrolling, 4000 DPI any surface tracking, and 7 buttons and you won't be disappointed.
