Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Is A PS5 Timed Console Exclusive


PlayStation had an impressive Showcase last night, announcing the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 2 and revealing the first God of War: Ragnorak footage. One of the biggest surprises of the night was the unveiling of a Knights of the Old Republic remake.

Many have assumed that the remake is set to launch exclusively for the PS5. However, it has been clarified that this is not the case and that the game will launch on other platforms later down the line.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Is A PS5 Timed Console Exclusive

The beloved RPG based on the space opera will reportedly launch on PC and as a temporary console exclusive for the PS5, before coming to other platforms eventually.

Despite this, there were no details on how long this temporary release video would last. Sony is no stranger to timed PlayStation exclusives, as seen by Arkane's Deathloop which will be a PS5 for one year, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake is looking to launch elsewhere soon.

PlayStation blog revealed more details about Aspyr's endeavour to bring the classic tale to a new generation. As well as displaying their passion for the characters and the original game, Aspyr is looking to faithfully re-adapt the RPG:

With Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, our hope is to give both series newcomers and long-term fans an experience that can live alongside the very best modern releases. We’re rebuilding it from the ground up with the latest tech to match the groundbreaking standard of innovation established by the original, all while staying true to its revered story.
