Gears of War Developer The Coalition Has Denied Working On A Star Wars Game

With all the studios announcing that they're working on Star Wars games, it's easy to assume that any studio talking about new IPs is working on Star Wars. Gears of War's developer, the Coalition, does not humor rumors like that. After a rumor arose on Reddit, they quickly put an end to it.

In a comment on Reddit, a user mentioned that The Coalition worked on many games. As a response, another Redditor casually hoped it was Star Wars. In response, the Coalition personally denied their involvement in Star Wars games.

To quote the response from The Coalition:

"Just to clarify regarding the Star Wars thing. We are not working on any such title. We have nothing else to announce at this time. "

The Coalition has made it very clear that they won't work on new titles until they are ready with Unreal Engine 5

The Coalition didn't just say they were not working on Star Wars, but they were not working on any games. At present, the plan is to get used to Unreal Engine 5 and release content for Gears of War but no mention of Star Wars. To quote their own release:

"Gears 5 has content on the way, and we'll continue to release new operations through Operations 7 and 8. Each Operation will have two drops including new characters, new maps, and special events. Through the end of the year, we will have store updates with exciting new content as well as featured playlists. Shifting to a new engine is a big undertaking, so we want to be clear that we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time. "

One thing is clear for Star Wars fans: The Coalition is not where the next Star Wars game will come from. In the meantime, most Star Wars fans must wait for games from TT Games or Ubisoft.
