The Psychonauts 2 release date is still on track for sometime in 2021.
Double Fine Production’s official Twitter account posted an update promising the game is still playable and will release sometime later this year.
However, five years after Psychonauts 2’s incredibly successful crowdfunding campaign, the Psychonauts sequel still doesn’t have a solid release date.
E3 2021 is right around the corner, though, and we’d be surprised if more Psychonauts 2 news didn’t drop sometime during the all-digital expo.
While we’ve seen precious little of Psychonauts 2 so far, we still have a good idea about what to expect from the new game thanks to two trailers and some earlier announcements.
Psychonauts 2 Release Date
Psychonauts 2 will release sometime later in 2021.
Psychonauts 2 Platforms
Psychonauts 2 will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and through backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5.
Is There A Psychonauts 2 Switch Version?
Probably not, at least not initially.
Double Fine has made no mention of a Switch version, though the crowdfunding campaign began a year before the Switch released.
It’s possible they could port the game sometime after launch.

Psychonauts 2 Story
Here’s what Double Fine said about the Psychonauts 2 narrative:
In Psychonauts 2, Raz realizes his dream and visits Psychonauts Headquarters. However, when he gets there, he finds it's not the perfect place he expected and quickly realizes that the Psychonauts need him more than he needs them.
The game will feature a new hub world inside the Psychonauts 2 headquarters and sees Raz mind hopping across a number of new psychedelic environments with new abilities to boot.
