Pokémon GO Bug Out event start date

The Pokémon GO Bug Out event starts on August 10, 2022. It'll run for just under a week, wrapping up on August 16. That gives you six days to catch as many Bug-type Pokémon as you can - and there should be an awful lot of them available in the wild.

One thing we don't know yet is the exact timings of the event. They tend to start at 10 AM in your local time on the first day, ending at 8 PM on the final day. Of course, we'll keep you updated once Niantic reveals more.

What is the Pokémon GO Bug Out event?

The Bug Out event is the latest limited-time celebration in Pokémon GO. Niantic is being very secretive as to what it'll exactly consist of, however. If we had to guess, we imagine you'll see many more Bug-type Pokémon in the wild than usual, perhaps with some extra raid battles to boot.

All Niantic has said so far is that the event is "featuring Bug-type Pokémon," which isn't too specific. Of course, once we know more about the specifics of the event, we'll update this list.

The good news is that you won't have to work very hard to participate in the Bug Out event.

As with all other special events in Pokémon GO, it's a simple case of logging in when the event is online, without having to do anything specific.

The passive bonuses around increased presence of Bug-type Pokémon will automatically apply, so you can enjoy them without having to purchase a ticket.

What are the Pokémon GO Bug Out event research bonuses and rewards?

Another thing we don't know yet is whether there will be any specific rewards or bonuses tied to the Bug Out event. There tends to be a new run of special research tasks with each Pokémon GO event, and we expect this to be the same.

The chances are the research rewards will be random Pokémon appearing, likely Bug-types to fit in with the theme. There could also be doses of XP, and likely an item or two along the way. We'll have to wait and see.

That's it for our look at the Pokémon GO Bug Out event! As soon as we learn more about the upcoming promotion, we'll update this guide. Until then, feel free to read up on the raid bosses for August 2022, which have now been confirmed.
