Payday 3sreleased sometime in 2023 and while we wait, more information about Starbreeze's upcoming co-op shooter sequel has been unveiled - thanks to Payday 3 director Erik Wonnevi.
During a live stream for Payday's 10th anniversary, an interview with Wonnevi revealed that the upcoming game is set in New York. Here, he described the world as being “a living, enormous representation of the city.”

Payday 3 Takes Place in New York With the Original Crew
Payday 3 is set several years after Payday 2, and part of Starbreeze's stream reads as:
"The world of Payday has transitioned into the digital age, with software giants, crypto currencies, mass surveillance, and the Dark Web all playing a role in the gang's new gadgets, challenges, and opportunities."
Payday's original four characters -Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf - are all returning to their life of cream, though we don't yet know why. Various game photos were also released, showing the crew wearing their crime outfits (thanks Gamingbolt).
