What's the best Oranguru weakness in Pokémon GO?

Coming to raids in Pokémon GO, Oranguru is a Normal and Psychic-type Pokémon. As such, there are a fair few obvious type counters that'll prove super effective when you're battling it in a raid.

Primarily, you'll want to use either Bug or Dark-type Pokémon. Those are the best counters to Oranguru's native types, and as such will deal the most damage while you try and whittle down its HP.

Pokémon GO Oranguru - best Pokémon counters

With those type counters in mind, there are a few select Pokémon worth using as you head into battle. Any of these Pokémon in your attacking line-up should serve you well, but the more you can add the better. Either way, these are a sample of the Pokémon you'll want to use:

Pokémon
Fast move
Charged move
Darkrai
Snarl
Dark Pulse
Houndoom
Snarl
Foul Play
Tyranitar
Bite
Crunch
Absol
Snarl
Payback
Shiftry
Snarl
Foul Play

Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of Dark-type Pokémon here, since there tends to be more high-hitting Dark-types than Bug-types. The chances are you'll already have Pokémon such as Darkrai from previous raid battles, so you should be able to dive into battle without too much bother.

Is Oranguru good in Pokémon GO?

On balance, Oranguru does seem like one of the best raid bosses to recently arrive in Pokémon GO. It's expected to have a CP range of 1330-1400, which isn't the highest to start with. Of course, that will go up as you power it up, making it even stronger.

All you need to do is look at other Psychic-type Pokémon to see just how strong Oranguru is. It may not match up against legendaries such as Mewtwo or Arceus, but still warrants a place on your roster. There's a good chance it'll end up stronger than reliable Pokémon like Alakazam or Exeggutor, and therefore is worth trying to catch if you can beat the raid boss.

Is Oranguru rare in Pokémon GO?

Equally, Oranguru is currently one of the rarest Pokémon in the game - for now, that is. Since it is brand new to Pokémon GO in raid battles, that's the only way anybody can get it. Yes, Oranguru won't be out there in the wild, so the ways to get it remain fairly limited.

Once Oranguru leaves as a raid boss, the chances are there will be more ways to get it in the future. Niantic has yet to announce whether it'll go straight into the wild, or if it will be vaulted to later return in future raids. We'll have to wait and see - but you should try and grab it now that it's definitely available for the time being.

Until then, feel free to catch up on all things Pokémon GO. Check out the eggs chart for this month, as well as the latest raid bosses that'll arrive alongside Oranguru.
