After no end of speculation, Nintendo has finally confirmed their Switch (OLED Model) today. While that missed a rumoured unveiling at E3 2021, Nintendo's announced it that'll launch on October 8, 2021.

According to Nintendo, this new system features a vibrant 7-inch OLED screen, runs up to 1080p when docked, a wide adjustable stand, a dock with a wired LAN port, 64 GB of internal storage, and enhanced audio. That launches with a new White colour scheme alongside the previous Neon Red/Neon Blue.

Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) Is Finally Confirmed, Launching This October

Though it doesn't have the power upgrade many expected, the OLED Model follows a trend by Nintendo, who previously released the DSi and New 3DS upgrades midway through their lifecycles. Sony and Microsoft brought us the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X last generation, but we've never seen Nintendo do this for a home console.

While Nintendo's hybrid console has undoubtedly been a major success - selling 84.59 million consoles - it's felt significantly underpowered compared to rival consoles, leaving many wondering if a mid-generation upgrade was ever coming. We don't have confirmed UK pricing just yet, but it'll retail for $350 USD.
