Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice has been a major disappointment to players but it looks like Warner Bros. isn’t impressed with the game either. The company claims that their DC looter shooter has fallen short of their expectations, which isn’t too surprising, given the game’s public perception.

During the company’s financial call (via IGN), Gunnar Wiedenfels, the Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer, said the game has “fallen short of our expectations.” The game’s failure to make a dent in sales might lead to a “tough year” for Warner Bros. Discovery, especially when compared to last year.

It also doesn’t help that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released in a pretty stacked month for video games. The looter shooter had to contend with Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Persona 3 Reload, two acclaimed JRPGs, at around the same time. While the game is in a completely different genre when compared to the two JRPGs, fans are also just sick of looter shooters.

Not helping were the leaks regarding Kill the Justice League’s story, which were proven to be correct. While some story moments were taken out of context, the leakers were correct and Rocksteady even confirmed this, asking players to give it a chance. DC fans didn’t like what they read but it seems future seasons could end up making them happier.

Gaming insiders have said that Rocksteady has more in store for players if they keep playing Suicide Squad, as the devs have plans for multiple seasons. That does make a ton of sense since this is a looter shooter, so it will be interesting to see if the devs can redeem themselves.

Although there’s a lot of hate surrounding Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, we didn’t hate the shooter too much. Despite not being fairly original, the shooter does have a solid story and some fun gameplay mechanics.
