Breakdown

  • Star Wars KOTOR remake is still alive, according to Saber's CEO
  • The hope is that this remake exceeds everyone's expectations
  • News surrounding the remake's production have been fairly negative

The CEO of Saber Interactive claims that their Star Wars KOTOR remake is somehow still alive, despite everything this project has been through. While it’s good to know that this remake hasn’t been abandoned, the news surrounding this game’s production doesn’t exactly fill us with glee.

Speaking with IGN, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch revealed that the KOTOR remake is still alive, despite everything that’s been revealed. Karch doesn’t give too many details about the production, but knows it’s been a topic in the gaming press and hopes it breaks expectations.

"It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch said. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."

Only time will tell if the Star Wars KOTOR remake does indeed “exceed consumer expectations,” but lord knows that the project needs it. After going through multiple developers and having its trailer delisted from PlayStation, this project is dead to many gamers. It’s up to Saber Interactive to prove everyone wrong, so let’s see if they can make that happen.

News surrounding this remake was so bad that former publisher Embracer Group said that they wouldn’t talk about the project anymore. Even Disney didn’t want to talk about the remake, opting to talk about their Marvel games, which have a higher chance of coming out.

Fans were initially excited to see the Star Wars KOTOR remake, since this is a pretty old RPG that could use one. However, it’s been years since we first saw the game’s now delisted trailer and we can’t help but feel negative towards it. All we can do is hope that Saber Interactive can make something out of this, especially since they’re now free from Embracer Group.

There is no release date for the Star Wars KOTOR remake, obviously. Fans can pick up the original KOTOR on PC and Nintendo Switch, alongside its sequel.
