Pokémon GO is still a fairly popular mobile game but the app has been a bit controversial, with Niantic prioritizing monetization and making things less fun. It seems the company’s track record of disappointing fans continues, as players have deemed the most recent research task the worst one yet.

Research tasks tend to be quick and easy, though there are a couple that take up a lot of time. However, the recent one involving Kecleon has been dubbed the worst one thus far, with many fans expressing their disappointment on Reddit.

Kecleon is a chameleon Pokémon and the devs of Pokémon GO tried to be cute by making this particular critter harder to catch than most. Players need to find a specific PokéStop, find Kecleon’s red zigzag design, tap on it to spawn, and then attempt to catch it. Considering how lengthy this process is, it’s easy to see why fans aren’t into this event.

Not helping is the fact that this Pokémon rarely spawns, so the task becomes ridiculously hard to participate in. Some players are saying this research task is taking months for them to beat, so the activity is quickly becoming repetitive for players. Even those who play the app daily can’t quickly complete the task, hence, all of the anger.

It is disappointing to see Pokémon GO turn into such a dull app, especially since the game still has a lot of fans who play it daily. Whether it’s for minor exercise or just for fun, some people play this regularly and Niantic just makes the game worse. The company has also made redeeming codes harder for Android users, another unpopular decision resulting in plenty of criticism.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android devices as a free download. Players interested in the game and want to support it can also buy items with real-world money, which is pretty typical for most mobile apps.
