Modern Warfare 3 developers are exploring the possibility of testing lobbies that don't disband once a match has ended.

In recent Call of Duty titles, including Modern Warfare 3, multiplayer matches have stopped the same group of players from staying in the same lobby across all game modes resulting in plenty of skill variation in each game.

With Season 1 moving into view and the topic of SBMM continuing to cause plenty of debate, Sledgehammer Games has revealed it plans on testing non-disbanding lobbies to determine the performance of a potentially major change to the Modern Warfare 3 matchmaking system. If successful, there's a chance of the system rolling out to all players.

During the developer's Reddit Q&A, it discussed the possibility of adding non-disbanding lobbies into multiplayer.

As expected, fans in the comments were quick to share their excitement surrounding the feature's potential return. One player says: "Disbanding lobbies is the single worst change CoD has made over the years. Playing with or against the same people for hours made the game so much better." Another adds: "That's ok guys, I actually personally tested this for ten years before Modern Warfare 2019 and I can confirm it was 100% better and worked perfectly."

As players continue to pester Sledgehammer Games on skill-based matchmaking, adding lobbies that don't disband once a match finishes could act as a method of balancing the skill levels of players. One player thinks: "This will help SBMM. Can't get matched up with sweats after a positive game if you keep going against the same people."

Sledgehammer Games' transparency when it comes to its development process continues to prove popular among players. The developer often acknowledges the concerns of players and endeavours to apply changes to guarantee Modern Warfare 3 is a fun experience for all.

We'll have to wait and see if non-disbanding lobbies make their way into multiplayer. They may start featuring in the experimental playlist but we'll have to wait and see what the developer has planned.
