Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake a lot of fans are looking forward to, as it is no longer stuck on the Nintendo Wii. Warren Spector, best known for directing this game and working on Deus Ex, is excited about the remake and even said he would have loved to make a third game.

Responding to someone on LinkedIn, Spector said that he would love to make Epic Mickey 3, but says his current day job makes that impossible. Spector does say that his next project is “pretty darn cool” but it seems he’s given up on making a third game for now, even though he has ideas.

“I’d love to do Epic Mickey 3 but I have a day job that would make that impossible,” Spector comments. “I actually have a high level idea for what I’d do in a tri-quel. Don’t worry what I’m working on is pretty darn cool and OtherSide is looking to hire for that project and one other we’re working on.”

Here’s hoping that interest in Epic Mickey will eventually lead to a sequel, whether Spector is involved or he gives his blessing to someone else. The game’s former director does praise THQ Nordic and developer Purple Lamp Studios, so it will be interesting to see how this first game does.

Purple Lamp Studios previously worked on the recent Spongebob platformers, which were received positively for the most part. While Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated was seen as a basic remake, The Cosmic Shake was seen as a stark improvement. Now that Purple Lamp has gotten their ears wet, it will be interesting to see how they improve this Wii classic.

Despite all of the nostalgia fans have for it, Epic Mickey was never a flawless game, though fans always appreciated its art style and concepts. The less said about Epic Mickey 2 the better, as most tend to agree that it’s a very dull game.
