Announced during the most recent Nintendo Direct, Epic Mickey has finally escaped the Nintendo Wii and is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. Fans have missed this platformer for many years, so seeing it come back to modern systems is a huge win for Disney enthusiasts.

Called Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, this has been described as a faithful remake of the flawed Wii classic. That can be seen in the trailer, as the game now looks gorgeous in its new home. While the first game was already a looker, seeing it on a much more powerful console fills us with glee.

Published by THQ Nordic, the only thing “new” about this game so far is its great visuals. While it wasn’t mentioned, we can also assume that this remake will also use more modern controls since the first game used a Wii Remote. They also may have adapted the control style of its sequel, which was also released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Epic Mickey: Rebrushed looks like it's going to be a quality remake, even if there aren’t a lot of new features, at least based on this trailer. If we’re going to base this on previous THQ Nordic remakes, this could be similar to what the publisher did with Destroy All Humans, where they made the game prettier. That’s not a bad thing at all, as it does give this classic a second chance at making a name for itself.

The original Epic Mickey blew everyone away at first, as everyone thought this was going to be a much darker Disney game. While that wasn’t the case at all, it was still cool to see a classic version of Mickey in a cool 3D platformer. Unfortunately, the sequel failed to impress players and critics alike, with many claiming it's much worse than the original game.
