Dragon’s Dogma 2 looks like it's going to be a difficult RPG experience that a lot of hardcore gamers are going to enjoy. Capcom wants players to think out every action, as their NPC allies can be gone forever if they aren’t careful.

In an interview with 4Gamer (translated by Chainsaw McFacepunch), it was revealed that the game’s NPCs no longer respawn automatically after dying. Rather than getting revived via a healing item, players will have to visit the NPC’s body in the morgue where they can then use the Wakestone to bring them back.

Players will need to hurry, as Dragon’s Dogma 2 will only keep these NPCs in the morgue for a few days before they get buried. Once an NPC’s body has been buried they can no longer be revived, so players will need to have those Wakestones ready.

NPCs play a major part in the game, as they usually make up your party members in the main game. Called Pawns, these AI party mates are much more capable than you would expect, attacking and defending at just the right times. If you end up getting attached to some of the Pawns in the game, you’re gonna want to heal them and keep those Wakestones handy.

The news should excite Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans, as this could be the hardcore RPG experience they’ve been waiting for. Capcom is getting the most out of current-gen hardware, as this is a gorgeous-looking game with some great monster designs to slash through. It seems that those visuals come at a cost, as players will be stuck in 30FPS, with no Performance Mode to choose from at launch.

Curious fans who are intrigued by this should consider picking up Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, a remaster of the PS3 and Xbox 360 original with all the DLC. While not as difficult, or as pretty, it does give players a taste of what’s to come with the sequel and it goes on sale a lot.
