Dragon’s Dogma 2 looks like a worthy successor to its underrated predecessor and fans are excited to see how the sequel pushes current-gen consoles. It seems the sequel will push current-gen consoles quite a bit, as recent reports said the game is aiming for 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series systems.

According to a preview from IGN Japan, the sequel runs at 30fps on consoles, which might be the new norm once again. While having up to 60fps is nice, these new games are pushing the consoles to have better visuals, so performance might have to suffer because of it.

Running games at 30fps is far from the worst thing ever, so Dragon’s Dogma 2 should be a very playable RPG when it hits PS5 and Xbox Series. PC players can probably push the game to 60fps, though that also means having a very beefy graphics card or lowering the visuals till they look like a PS3 game.

Beyond performance, this Capcom sequel is making some odd choices that are proving to be a bit unpopular. The report also confirms that this game will only have one save slot per system, which means less experimenting with character classes. Considering how multiple classes enhance the replayability of RPGs, this is a very baffling choice.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will also be the first Capcom game that embraces the $70 price tag, which is becoming the norm for current-gen games. No one’s ever going to enjoy games being priced like this, but given how greedy the industry has been in recent years, we wouldn’t be surprised at even more price changes. Let’s just hope that isn’t the case, since most of us wouldn’t mind cheaper games that don’t have a billion-dollar budget.
