Destiny 2 fans pay tribute on the anniversary of Lance Reddick’s passing

Players within Destiny 2 have paid tribute to deceased actor Lance Reddick on the anniversary of his death. Known within the community for his role as Commander Zavala, Reddick’s passing hit the community hard.

Lance Reddick’s role as Commander Zavala has been replaced by long-time Bungie collaborator Keith David. However, fans are still coming out in droves to pay tribute to the late actor.

Marking a year since the actor’s passing on March 17, 2023, Destiny 2 players paid tribute to the actor on the game’s official subreddit with many in disbelief that a year has already passed.

On Reddit, fans expressed a desire for Bungie to do something in-game to commemorate the passing of the actor. While this hasn’t happened, fans got together to discuss the actor on the anniversary of his death. Another post told fans to stop by The Tower to make sure they pay their respects to the actor.

“Usually, I don’t get affected by celebrity deaths,” one fan said. “It’s life, it happens. 8 didn’t know them… Lance’s death hit me, it felt like a good part of my life is over… RIP Lance, you were a true one.”

“Time flies,” said another. “I still miss him. I almost stopped being sad but then I got into watch Vox Machina and became very sad because he voices Thordak. RIP, our Vanguard Leader, and the Cinder King.”

Some fans described their disbelief at the actor’s passing last year with many believing it was a hoax at first. Unfortunately, the actor is no longer with us, but his influence on fans — and Guardians — will never dissipate.

Lance Reddick’s final lines in Destiny 2 have been released. The actor’s final performance has also been released in the form of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

Destiny 2 has just started play testing for The Final Shape, the next expansion for the free-to-play FPS game. A Ghostbusters crossover is also on the way to the game, but we shouldn’t discuss that much in an article about a beloved person’s passing.
