The brilliant original Star Wars Battlefront games are returning on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox with new content to play through. After two decades of absence, Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are both making their way to new consoles.

Originally developed by the now-dead Pandemic, the classic Star Wars Battlefront games have been remastered by Aspyr Media, the same team behind the recent remasters of Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer.

Releasing on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4 and PS5, Aspyr’s new ports of Star Wars Battlefront will include both offline and online play, allowing you to join in firefights with and against your friends.

Furthermore, the new ports will include content previously locked to the original Xbox version of the game. This includes new playable characters such as Kit Fisto as well as stunning maps like Jabba’s Palace. Originally released as Xbox DLC, these maps have been sadly locked to other platform for almost 20 years.

Can we just appreciate how cool this looks?

The bonus content includes the following additions: Jabba’s Palace for Battlefront 1 and Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, Yavin 4: Arena, Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto for Battlefront 2.

While the remasters don’t feature the hectic 100-player multiplayer of the PC version, you’ll be able to play both Star Wars games in 64-player online multiplayer on console for the first time in twenty years. It may not be the best way to play, but it's still a great way to tickle your nostalgia glands.

As expected, both Star Wars Battlefront games will include the return of split-screen multiplayer for the ultimate return of nostalgia. On PlayStation and Xbox, you’ll also be able to unlock trophies/achievements as well, a new challenge for Battlefront veterans.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection releases on multiple platforms on March 14, 2024.
