Konami's Terminating Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Servers For PS3 And Xbox 360 Next Year

One of Kojima Productions’ last games under Konami in 2015, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will make a major move - as they terminate the game’s online services for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

The official Konami website showed their statement regarding this which reads:

Thank you for playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. We regret to inform our users that online services for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will be terminated on 2022-05-31 6:00 (UTC).

MGS V Offline Is Still Available

They've also announced that DLC for Metal Gear Online will be unavailable starting November 30, while the game itself will be phased out from digital stores for both platforms beginning March 1, 2022. As such, the culmination of all their major moves for the two mentioned platforms occurs on May 31, 2022, when the online service will already be laid to rest.

But, even with those major changes happening along the way, Konami assured “while the online service will end the main game will still playable offline.” Not unexpectedly, players must also be aware that there's no refund for any in-game items and goods they bought.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. And now, five years after its debut, it'll gradually see some major changes – beginning with the PS3 and Xbox 360 online service. Make sure to follow us for more news and updates about Metal Gear Solid.
