Illumination CEO Praises Chris Pratt's Performance in the Upcoming Super Mario Film

While some have expressed doubt over Chris Pratt being the new voice of Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros Animated Film, Illumination co-founder and CEO Chris Meledandri praised Pratt's performance in giving a new tone to Nintendo's mascot, labeling it a very good one.

VGC reports that Meledandri spoke with a reporter for toofab in LAX airport in California, where he was questioned about Chris Pratt's version of Mario. He said:

"All I can tell you is the voice that he’s doing for us and Mario is phenomenal. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Meledandri also mentioned that Pratt won't adopt an Italian accent for the role as Charles Martinet - the original voice actor for Mario - usually does. The CEO claimed that there is a reason behind this, and it will be answered in the movie.

Other artists joining Pratt as the voices behind classic Mario characters in the upcoming film include Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.
