Apex Legends Fight or Fright event 2022: Start date, rewards, and more

The Apex Legends Fight or Fright Halloween event returns in 2022 much to the excitement of players waiting for another dose of spooky antics. Throughout the month of October, the event contains a wide range of seasonal cosmetics, the return of popular limited-time modes (LTM) and more.

Alongside the new content, Respawn has shared more details that include updates to Control and the return of popular skins from previous seasons of content.

When is the Apex Legends fight or fright 2022 event?

Thanks to a recent EA blog post, we know the four-week event will commence on October 4, 2022. The opening week will see the debut of the Shadow Royale mode where players can respawn into the action through Shadow Forms.

Apex Legends Shadow Royale mode explained

As mentioned above, those that are eliminated during a match rejoin the action in Shadow Form. Shadow Forms have the ability to wall-run, double-jump, and utilise additional melee damage to their advantage. Shadows will respawn until a squad is fully eliminated.

Shadow Royale matches take place on the Olympus After Dark map that features dark streets and a blood moon to light up the sky.

Apex Legends fight or fright roadmap

The above roadmap showcases all of the content making its way to Apex in the next month. Here's a full list of modes and the dates they will arrive:

  • Shadow Royale - October 4-11
  • Gun Run - October 11-18
  • Control - October 18-25
  • Shadow Royale - October 25-November 1

Apex Legends Fight or Fright skins

For those hoping for new skins, it's bad news. The Fight or Fright event won't feature any new skins for you to get your hands on. However, there are plenty of fan-favourite cosmetics returning as part of the Fight or Fright sale.

Alongside the arrival of new modes, the Fight or Fright event will see plenty of Halloween-themed skins that will appear in the store tab. In amongst the content, two fan-favourite skins are returning:

  • Voidwalker - Available from October 4-11
  • Memoir Noir - Available from October 11-18

Lastly, the final two weeks of the event will also include more returning skins ranging from the Dread Captain bundle to the Blood and Plunder bundle from 2150 to 3000 Apex Coins.

Apex Legends Control mode updates

With plenty of spooky content on the way, the Fight or Fright event also brings a number of changes to Control. Here's what's in store:

  • NEW Timed Event: MRB Timed Event ( Get the MRB and deploy it to create a temporary spawn point for your team).
  • Updated Timed Event order to have the Bonus Capture event be the 3rd event to trigger, it now also rewards twice as much score as before ( old: 100 score, new: 200 score).
  • Can now Ping Zones from the Spawn Screen.
  • For Controller Players; automatically place the cursor on the best spawn point when they get put into the Spawn Screen.
  • Players automatically pick up ordnance if they walk near it.
  • Players can now emote on the Intro Podium screen.
  • The Hammond Labs map now takes place on Olympus After Dark.
  • Updates to Weapon Loadouts ( loadout compositions).
  • Updates to weapons in Weapon Loadouts to have the same attachments available to them at the same tiers as BR ( except for scopes).
  • In the spirit of Olympus After Dark; weapons that support Threat Scopes/Sights have them as an option in the optic selection menu in the Loadout Selection Menu.
  • Disabled pings for healing items.
  • Updates to spawn logic that should fix some rare spawn issues ( like being taken to the Spawn Screen with no points to select).
  • Spawn system tuning to further try to prevent issues where players spawn in sight of enemies or, too close to enemies.
