Link speaking past a group of new enemies in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

We’ve been looking forward to the new enemies in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and how they’ll impact the gameplay. The Legend of Zelda is returning, with Tears of the Kingdom being the most anticipated game of 2023. Despite all the excitement, Nintendo has been pretty secretive about Tears of the Kingdom, and we’ve only gotten some glimpses through trailers.

One thing that Breath of the Wild lacked was enemy variety. Some enemies in the new game have been revealed in the gameplay trailers, and we’ll take a look at all of them in this guide.

Check out our other guides for Tears of the Kingdom for information about a potential co-op feature and the game’s release date. On top of that, read up on how big the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom map is.

Mechanical Golem

The Mechanical Golem shown in the trailer is potentially one of the major bosses in the game. The Golem is powered by the same green runic energy we see throughout the trailers, so it will probably have a lot of significance in the game. However, it could also make for a fun mini-boss in the open world or at the end of new dungeons. We look forward to going toe-to-toe with this giant mechanical sentry!

ReDead

The ReDead is an old fan favourite from older titles like Ocarina of Time. Fans were disappointed at the ReDead not getting a modern 3D Zelda appearance for ages. However, this seems to no longer be the case, as we spot a ReDead hanging among hordes of other monsters in the trailer. The ReDead is a creepy enemy who paralyses Link with its shrieks, and approaches slowly like a horror movie villain. It will surely add atmospheric value to dungeons as a new enemy in Tears of the Kingdom.

New Bokoblin

Speaking of hordes, we saw a new Bokoblin creature for a moment in the trailer, marching in the middle. This new black Bokoblin seems to be much larger than the others, and holds a cannon in its hand. It reminds us of King K.Rool from Donkey Kong. The weapon could also be a shotgun, and the creature appears to be chief among the Bokoblins. Even if they’re Bokoblins, we’re happy to see more enemy variety.

Flying lizard enemies

Speaking of new Bokoblin variants, these flying creatures can be seen soaring the skies in the wild and around Bokoblin camps. You can even see them carrying Bokoblins around, which might make for a scary combination. These new flying mobs will have Link facing aerial threats in Tears of the Kingdom, which was something Breath of the Wild did not expand upon.

Three-headed dragon

We saw a brief glimpse of a three-headed dragon on a bridge in the trailer as well. All three heads had flames in their maws, and we look forward to seeing how this new enemy in Tears of the Kingdom will be implemented. It could be a main boss to return to and conquer to unlock an area, or a powerful mini-boss that recurs around the map. Regardless, fighting dragons is always a fun experience, and we look forward to it in Tears of the Kingdom.

Stone Talus, new enemies in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Luminous Stone Talus

We saw Link tossing a bomb with his new weapon at a Stone Talus. However, this Stone Talus had a luminous rock attached to its head, and appeared quite different. Furthermore, we also saw other Stone Talus with Bokoblin camps set up on their backs. These will probably function as mobile forts, so we hope there are even more Stone Talus variants to battle in Tears of the Kingdom.
