'The Quest for Guybrush' Tall Tale lets you step foot on the iconic Melee Island and get up to all sorts of pirate trouble. The Trial of Thievery in Sea of Thieves is the second of the Three Legendary Trials to help save Guybrush from the clutches of Lechuck's mysterious spell.
However, as you might expect from the first Legend of Monkey Island Tall Tale and the Monkey Island video games, completing the Trial of Thievery is no clear-cut task, and you'll need a somewhat devious sleight-of-hand to complete the task.
Luckily, our walkthrough guide is here to lead the way and help anyone who may be stuck beginning and completing the Trial of Thievery in Sea of Thieves' 'The Quest for Guybrush' Tall Tale.
How to speak to Stan at Stan’s Preowned Vessels
Before completing the Trial of Thievery, it's best to complete the Trial of Treasure-huntery. Once ready, visit Stan's Preowned Vessels as marked in your quest logbook map.
Sit on the barrel in front of Stan's office for a Memoir Location, and read the journal by the rowboat near the second grog machine. Afterwards, ask Stan about the four ships on display by selecting their nearby signs.
Talk to Stan again and select the fourth dialogue option, 'I've seen all your ships'. What's the cheapest?'. Ask him who purchased the Headless Monkey. If you show Stan Meathook's Bill of Sale, he'll give you the ship.
Reach Hook Island to speak with Meathook
It's now time to find Meathook. Head past Stan's place, Captain's Smirk house, and across the zipline to reach another on the right that takes you to Hook Island.
Once there, enter Meathook's house and tell him you're here about the Headless Monkey. Meathook will help if you catch and tame the Beast.
How to fix the cage and tame The Beast
Approach the cage in Meathook's house and start fixing it by pulling out five broken cutlasses. Head outside to the wood pile to pick up three pieces of wood. Return to the cage and attach the wood.
Tell Meathook, then go to the forest outside to grab a Mop Tree Stick, which fixes the lever.
Search the house for Concentrated Banana Grease. You can find it in a box, cupboard, or chest. Give it to Meathook and then grab the shanty from the bed upstairs.
Head through the forest and up the cliff to play the shanty with any instrument to summon and pick up the beast, tickling it for the Beast Whisperer commendation.
Put the Beast back in the cage, and Meathook gives you his Bill of Sale.
How to get Stan’s office key and open Stan’s safe
Return to Stan and tell him you have the Bill. Get him to talk extras, and ask him about playing hide and seek before locking him in the wardrobe.
You can now grab the key on the wall and enter Stan's office.
Stan's safe code is left two, right three, and left one, as stated in the ledger. Open it and pick up the Idol'O Many Hands, giving it to Corina through the portal to complete the Trial of Thievery.
