With players dropping into the Modern Warfare 3 single-player during the campaign early access window, many are already working through the extensive mission list and are earning plenty of trophies and achievements along the way. In a bid to innovate the campaign, Open Combat Missions make their debut giving you even more ways to complete the task at hand.

Modern Warfare 3 Oligarch walkthrough

After recalling his initial dealings with Makarov, Task Force 141 is on the hunt for an oligarch that funded the resurgence of the Konni Group. As it's an Open Combat Mission, you can choose to play it passively and pick off opponents from afar or go for an all-out assault where stealth flies out the window.

You play as Soap, who's venturing onto the private island where Konni Group acts as security.

Retrieve the key fob

Make your way onto the small pontoon where a soldier is tying up a boat. Eliminate them quickly to avoid any unwanted attention. Make your way up the wooden staircase and past the cabanas where you'll come across the first question mark of the mission.

Inside the sleek, modern house is the high-value target and you can reach the outside of the property without firing a single bullet. Remember, foliage makes for excellent cover if you've managed to alert any enemy personnel.

There's no sign of the key fob in the house. Head outside and move towards the next question mark to the east. There are enemies littered around with many groups of two. Either take them both out or let them pass to avoid all-out chaos.

Make your way inside the house to find several armoured guards. We went all guns blazing for this part, using numerous grenades to eliminate them as fast as possible. Next, you'll find a suited high-value target inside the bedroom. Kill him and grab the key fob.

Clear the mansion

With biometrics protecting the intel, you need to clear out the mansion and confront the oligarch. There are plenty of Konni Group members protecting the oligarch from capture so resupply ammunition and armour plates at every moment.

Be aware of bomb drones that will head your way while preoccupied with another target. The drones can be shot down but if they get too close, they can deal a lot of damage.

Sprint into the mansion to take cover from the drones and use them against any enemies halting your progress.

Head up to the top floor, dispatching any resistance you come across. Laswell will open the locked door where Milena Romanova will be waiting. After some negotiating, Romanova reveals the location of Makarov bringing the mission to a close.
