Similar to the previous main entry in the franchise, Like a Dragon 8 has Bonds with party members that you can increase by doing different activities, reaping very useful rewards in combat while letting you get to know each character better.

How to increase Bonds in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
As we've mentioned, increasing Bonds will unlock more conversations and you'll get to know each character better. Furthermore, and more importantly, you'll gain access to special abilities the deeper your Bond gets.
All party members can have their Bonds increased, giving you extra perks on battle depending on who you are levelling up. You can see your current Bond level with each character by going to the Bonds section of the main menu so you can always keep track of them.
There are many ways to increase them, so let's take a look at them.
Table Talks, Party Chats, and Walk & Talks
These are conversations that can be triggered while exploring Hawaii. They have different requirements to be triggered:
- Table Talks: Go to a restaurant and order the correct meal while having the proper active party to trigger these. These hand out +15 Bond EXP. Special Table Talks give an extra +10 to a certain character depending on the situation
- Party Chats: Small impromptu conversations that can pop up while walking around Hawaii. Again, these will trigger depending in who's on your party, but they're hard to track since they don't show up on the map until you're right in front of a place that can trigger them. They give out +10 Bond EXP to all party members that take part in the conversation
- Walk & Talks: Walk & Talks are unique conversations that are marked on the map, unlike Party Chats. These are one-on-one conversations with party members. There are 16 standard Walk & Talks and one final Walk & Talk that triggers after meeting certain requirements, including listening to the first 16 conversations. Each Walk & Talk gives +10 Bond EXP.
Complete each character's Bingo Bond card
As you complete Walk & Talks, you can also get Bingo Bonds bonuses that will further enhance your bond with certain characters. By checking the Bingo card for each character in the Bonds section of the main menu you can see which Walk & Talk you need to prioritise to get a Bingo (fill a row, column, or diagonal line).
Getting a bingo gets you +35 which is enough for a full level up and a bit extra early on.
Minigames, gifts, and battling
Other ways of increasing Bonds include:
- Give gifts: Head over to certain shops and a small prompt to hand out gifts will pop while looking at certain objects. You can also purchase them and hand them over while at Revolver.
- Play minigames together: Things like darts early on are great to deepen bonds one-on-one, but you'll find other typical Like a Dragon activities while in Hawaii that can immensely boost your Bond EXP
- Use party members in battle: Perhaps the simplest but longest way to increase Bonds. Simply use the character you want to level up in battle. It's not the best way to go about it, but think of it as an extra incentive.
Bond rewards in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
So why do you want to increase each character's Bond level? Well, there are in fact many perks:
Drink Links
As you deepen your bond with a character, you'll gain access to Drink Links, special conversations that will let you select different answers, depending on your answer you'll enhance an Ichiban personality trait.
You'll get Drink Links at the following Bond levels:
- Level 10 Bond
- Level 20 Bond
- Level 30 Bond
- Level 40 Bond
- Level 50 Bond
Battle bonuses
Depending on their bond level they'll gain different perks like skill inheritance slots starting at level 10, meaning that you can switch jobs but add skills from previous ones.
On top of that, unlocking each Drink Link will grant them a specific boost in combat, ranging from Tag Team attacks, the ability to chain attack knocked down enemies, or combo attacks with nearby teammates.
