Obsidian is an essential resource for a mid and late-game that will allow you to create the Epic Pickaxe and many other useful items. Having a supply of this resource is a must, so you're probably wondering how to get Obsidian in LEGO Fortnite.
Only found in the Dry Valley biome caves, Obsidian is one of the most important resources in the game. Do not rush to search for it, though, because it is dangerous there, and you should prepare well first. But we can help you with this.

LEGO Fortnite - how to find Obsidian
Obsidian appears in the Dry Valley biome caves. They are usually found in the desert or respawn near lava, so be sure to search for it there. You will need at least a Rare Pickaxe to mine it, however, because tools of worse quality can't break this ore.
Tips and tricks to follow before searching for Obsidian
A proper pickaxe is the number one priority for you to begin your search for Obsidian. In this case, you will need a Rare Pickaxe, which is crafted on the Rare Crafting Bench from the following resources:
- Flexwood Rod x3 - This can be obtained by processing Flexwood at the Lumber Mill. Flexwood, in turn, can be obtained by cutting down a cactus in Dry Valley with a Rare Axe.
- Sand Claw x3 - This resource drops after killing a sand wolf. This enemy can be found exclusively in Dry Valley and they are identifiable by their orange fur and red eyes. Killing one sand wolf will be enough because it drops four Sand Claws.
Another consideration you need to make before entering the Dry Valley caves is protecting yourself from hot temperatures. The best thing to do is to bring 10-15 Snow Berries, each of which will give you resistance for two minutes, which should be enough to gather all the necessary resources. Here's a list of other items that will also be helpful, but are not mandatory:
- Multiple swords - There are plenty of enemies who want to kill you, and running away from them will just gather a crowd that will eventually kill you, so it's better to get ahead of them.
- Food - A must-have to restore your health, as you'll be taking damage often.
- Building resources - Sometimes, you may find yourself in a dead end and the only way to get out is to build some kind of structure.
- Torch - To illuminate dark areas.
- Charms - If possible, take several of these to have more hearts. Three hearts are not enough for you to survive in the cave. Specifically, make a cool-headed charm (3 silk thread, 3 sand shells, 1 marble) at an upgrading crafting bench. Helps with the heat as well.
- Crossbow and arrows - Very useful, especially when you are chased by a crowd of enemies and cannot kill them one by one from close range.
- Friendly NPC - Take a partner from your village to help you dig for ores and fight enemies. Don't forget to equip them with tools and weapons.
- Make Snow Berry Shakes - Instead of Snow Berries, make the Snow Berry Shakes (2 Snow Berries, 1 Milk) at a juicer. It'll help you cool down better.
Also, building a bed near the cave and sleeping on it is a good idea to have a spawn point here. This way, if you die in the cave, you won't have to walk several kilometres from the base to the cave to pick up your backpack.
Once you're ready, go into a cave and search for black and purple rocks, called obsidian. You'll usually find obsidian near lava on the cave walls or ceiling, so you might need to build wooden stairs to reach it. You can use obsidian to make obsidian slabs using the Rock Breaker.
