The first Ghostrunner game was all about high-speed mayhem, and the action has doubled in Ghostrunner 2. Mindless slashing without mastery of the blade's other functions quickly get you stuck in a death loop, however. In this guide, we'll teach you how to parry in Ghostrunner 2.

There's no shortage of enemies ready to deliver a swift death in the game, and some are more-or-less impossible to kill unless you parry them. Projectiles can also be a real menace, but certain upgrades and well-timed parries can return them to sender for a nice, quick kill.

How to parry in Ghostrunner 2

To parry in Ghostrunner 2, players need to hold L1 right before an attack hits them.

Regular blocking also consumes more stamina than parrying, and it's important to keep some in reserve in case you need to dash away. Landing a perfect parry in melee combat will activate a counter-attack that kills the attacker, especially useful when dealing with Shinobi that are nigh-on invincible otherwise.

Parries aren't just for melee combat; blocking right before a projectile hits you will deflect it. Upgrades can make the return-to-sender effect more consistent, too.

Unfortunately, parries aren't the solution to every problem. Without upgrades, attacks from two-legged robots enemies of similar power will straight-up kill you on contact, no matter how hard you're trying to parry or block. A balanced play style is recommended - parry, shuriken, and dash your way to victory.

How to upgrade parry skill in Ghostrunner 2

After every mission completed, new upgrades will be available for purchase via the headquarters. They can quickly become expensive, but parry masters should look out for the upgrades listed below.

• Smooth Moves - perfect parries and projectile deflection become 'way easier'
• Fear Stimulator - performing perfect parries restores 35% of your energy
  • This can be boosted to 50% if there are no chips on either side of it in your motherboard
• Smart Deflect - deflected projectiles are automatically returned to sender
• Blade Coating - block projectiles that otherwise can't be blocked

Like the game's other upgrades, they should then be added to one of your motherboard slots to become active.
