Looking for a team-based shooter that doesn’t have the added pressure of saving the world from terrorists, robots, or multiverse variants? Foamstars may be exactly what you need to just kick back, relax, and spray opponents with foam.

At first glance, Foamstars may seem like a Splatoon knock-off. However, Square Enix’s party shooter has managed to set itself apart from other similar games through its unique modes and gameplay mechanics.

Foamstars release date

Foamstars is set for release on February 6, 2024 as part of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup. Those with an active PlayStation Plus subscription when the game is released will be able to download and keep it for free.

Starting on March 5, Foamstars will be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. However, do keep in mind that the game does require a PlayStation Plus subscription for online play.

Foamstars platforms

If you take a quick glance at the official Foamstars page on the Square Enix website, you’ll find that the party-fueled shooting game is only available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

So if you were looking to play this title on a PC, Xbox, or Switch, then you are unfortunately out of luck.

Foamstars characters

Foamstars will have six different characters available at launch and two additional characters that can be unlocked through challenges and seasonal content. Each character has their own unique personality and playstyle that only adds to the game’s charm.

Here’s a quick rundown of the initial Foamstars roster:

• Soa – the “Stylish Idol” who can control bubbles
• Agito – the “Pro-Gamer” looking to prove himself capable outside the world of esports
• Tonix – the “Genius Inventor” who is driven by her curiosity
• Jet Justice – the “Civilian Hero” that serves as the city’s very own protector
• Penny Gwyn – a “Penguin Solider” looking to fight against Global Warming
• Rave Breaker – “The Sanitizer” looking to get rid of party animals
• The Baristador – the “Gentle and Generous” coffee shop owner
• Mel T – the “Innocent and Cute” poster girl and CEO
