Initially, to complete the Blacksmith's Blues quest in Final Fantasy 16, you simply have to take in the Hideaway, where you will be told the Blacksmith is struggling. Walk over to the Blacksmith and he will reveal that a talented designer is making armour that outpaces his own.

You will then figure out by talking to the Blacksmith that he is planning to kill a Griffin for this next order. Your goal is to slay that Griffin and talk to the mysterious stranger. This is essentially all an introduction to teach you how hunts work.

How to use the Hunt Board to locate the Griffin in Final Fantasy 16

In order to find the Griffin, you can look at the Hunt Board in the Hideout. That being said, if you know the location, you don't need to interact with it. From the fast travel menu, go over to Sanbreque. Here, you have to go to the Caer Norvent River Gate. The Griffin will be in a patch of grass right next to the gate. You can see the location below:

The Griffin is called Dozmare and is level 28. Generally speaking, it shouldn't give you too much hassle. While Dozmare is quick, it tends to have many special moves that do tonnes of damage. Just apply pressure and use your abilities when you get behind it to land enough hits to defeat it.

After you have done this, the merchant will talk to you nearby and give you a piece of leather to give the Blacksmith.

Go back to the hideout, give the leather to your Blacksmith, and this will finish off the mission. From here on out, you can get items from Hunts that can build special gear!
