Is Baldur's Gate 3 coming to Xbox?
Well, the answer is yes, Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on Xbox in 2023. Larian Studios, the studio behind the Baldur's Gate 3, confirmed that the game is currently in development for Xbox consoles.
The Larian team initially faced some technical difficulties while optimising the game for the platform. However, at Gamescom 2023, Swen Vincke from Larian confirmed that after conversations with Phil Spencer, the Xbox port of Baldur’s Gate 3 would definitely release in 2023.
As it appears, there will be some very minor differences between the Xbox Series X and Series S versions. Vincke confirms that there will be no split-screen co-op on the Series S version, while the Series X version will have that feature. Fortunately, all version of Baldur’s Gate 3 have cross-save progression across Steam and Xbox Series consoles, so you’re never locked into just the Series S version.

In an interview with IGN, Larian Studios mentioned that they are facing challenges in making the two-player split-screen co-op mode of Baldur's Gate 3 work smoothly on the Xbox Series S.

You might be wondering why Larian Studios doesn't release Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Series X alone while addressing the issues with Xbox Series S. However, Microsoft has a policy that demands games to have the same features and quality on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Hence, until Larian Studios improves the split-screen co-op mode on the Xbox Series S to meet player expectations, they cannot release Baldur's Gate 3 on any Xbox console.
When can we expect Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox?
Therefore, we now know that Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on Xbox Series X|S at some point in 2023.
