Need to remove dead party members in Baldur's Gate 3? Doing this means you can revive them later and continue your campaign, so it's definitely a useful tool to know.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a hardcore RPG set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. If you are a diehard D&D fan, then you already know the serious implications of death in a campaign. But things work a little differently in Larian Studios' latest game.

Ideally, you should be preventing deaths from happening in the first place. There are two different states of dying that you need to know about. The first is when your companion goes down during a fight and you can use the Help action on them. This only counts as a knockdown, not a full death.

However, that doesn't stop enemies from finishing the job while your party members lie bleeding out. So the only way a character truly dies is by reaching three failed throws or being continuously hit by enemies. These instances count as failed throws. If your party member still manages to die despite your best efforts, here's what you need to know about removing them from your party.

Can you remove dead party members in Baldur's Gate 3?

Sadly, there is no way to remove dead party members in Baldur's Gate 3. Instead, you'll have to find ways to save them.

As with Dungeons & Dragons, unfortunate things can happen in Baldur's Gate 3. It's not unheard of to find yourself in a situation where you have a dead party member and no Scroll of Revivify. So in order to raise the dead (thankfully not in a zombified state), you will need to complete a quest that takes place at the start of Baldur's Gate 3. This can be found at the Chapel, near the Nautiloid crash site area where you first found Shadowheart.

Finding Withers the skeleton

You need to head to the back of the Dank Crypt area of the Chapel, which opens up to a secret area. If you head to the sarcophagus there, you will meet a hooded skeleton called Withers. Upon speaking with him, Withers will visit your camp and remain there. Once you have the skeleton on board, he can revive your dead party members for 200 gold each.

Using Revivify

The other method is to use a Scroll of Revivify, which will immediately bring a dead party member back to life. However, they will be brought back at 1 HP so you need to heal them immediately, or else they will go down again to any damage.

If you do not want to spend your gold and you want to ensure that your party members are alive at all times, then you should save as frequently as possible. It is also important to have a party with a healer and defensive utility, as surviving tough battles can be very difficult. Baldur's Gate 3's combat is not for the faint of heart. You will take a lot of damage throughout the game, so a healing loadout is a must for your playthrough.
