How do you upgrade weapons in Alan Wake 2?

Before you consider upgrading your weapons, you'll first have to gather the necessary resources. As you play through the game, keep an eye out for Alex Casey lunchboxes, which you can find scattered throughout the different locations in the game. Generally if there's a path that diverts from the route to your objective, chances are there'll be a Casey lunchbox.

Opening one of these lunchboxes will reward you with manuscript fragments that can be used to upgrade your weapons. Most lunchboxes contain around five manuscript fragments. These lunchboxes only apply to the real world, so you'll generally need to be on the lookout when playing as Saga. The fragments are of no use in the ever-shifting realm of the Dark Place.

Now that you have yourself some manuscript fragments, you're able to upgrade your weapons. The fragments are a form of currency that you can spend to upgrade your weapons while in Saga's Mind Place. Every weapon in the game that you have access to can be upgraded using the manuscript fragments, so it's a worthwhile endeavour to gather as many as you can.

Each weapon has three upgrade options, all with three levels of effectiveness. So whether you want to make headshots more effective or your bullet count higher, there's something for everyone if you've got the scraps for it.
