Ever since Warzone 2 launched in late 2022, the community has often debated whether sniper rifles should have enough firepower to score eliminations with a single bullet. For several months, those dropping into Call of Duty’s battle royale have found alternatives to make an impact in long-distance combat.
As part of the Season 3 update, Raven Software has already teased a ‘new dawn’ for the game in addition to a brand-new Battle Pass containing the legendary Intervention sniper rifle.
The timing of the Intervention returning couldn’t be better. The team behind Warzone 2 have confirmed one-shot snipers are back in action, much to the delight of the community.
Warzone 2 Season 3 includes one-shot snipers
The prospect of using a one-shot sniper rifle in Al Mazrah and Ashika Island is hugely exciting. However, the developers say players need to achieve “certain attachment and platform conditions” in order to experience the immense firepower once again.
Although there are several fans looking forward to the change, there are some that believe other issues need adjusting before overhauling sniper rifles. “Pacing and TTK are two of the biggest issues right now. This does the opposite to remedy them,” claims one member of the community.
Despite their concerns, numerous content creators are teasing changes to movement and the time to kill (TTK) are also on their way as part of the update. This alongside one-shot snipers certainly has the potential to spark a much-needed resurgence.
It’s unclear how the return of one-shot snipers will impact the meta. There’s a high possibility that Season 3 delivers another dose of weapon balancing meaning fans will have numerous options to choose from before dropping into the action. Will the adjustments to snipers have the desired effect? We’ll have to wait and see.
