Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 attendees both at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Pittsburgh, United States and online via Twitch thoroughly enjoyed one of the most unique speedruns in the history of the event led by Peanut Butter the Shiba Inu.

For those out of the loop, AGDQ is one of the biggest yearly events where the speedrunning community gathers for over a week of non-stop speedruns raising funds for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. There is another event during the summer, SGDQ (Summer Games Done Quick), which raises funds for Doctors Without Borders.

This past October, Twitch streamer JSR announced that his dog Peanut Butter (PB for short, naturally) would attempt to break his personal best in Gyromite's B-Mode, a NES game from 1985, during AGDQ.

In the game's B-Mode, the main character will automatically move to the right, you only need to control the position of the blue and red pipes to pave the way for the character to find his way to the next room. Simple stuff.

The record held by PB was set at 25 minutes and 29 seconds, which is the second-best time set in Gyromite's B-Mode overall, only surpassed Octopuscal's 24 minutes and 39 seconds according to Speedrun.com.

Peanut Butter is the cutest speedrunner at AGDQ

The way it works, according to JSR, is that after years of training, he noticed PB was an incredibly smart dog and decided to teach him the ways of speedrunning by utilising a custom controller with the A and B buttons required to play Gyromite.

Following indications from his owner JSR, Peanut Butter surprised thousands of viewers by completing his run of Gyromite. Sadly, the best boy did not break his previous record, ending his run after hitting 26 minutes and 24 seconds. Still, he got all the treats he could've asked for.

If you want a nice pick-me-up after in case you're having a gloomy day we recommend you check out PB's full run at AGDQ below.
