Rise of the Ronin looks like it's going to be another quality PlayStation exclusive but it seems that the game won’t be coming to Korea for controversial reasons. While no official reason was given by Sony, comments from the game’s director have led many fans to this same conclusion.

As reported by Daum (translated by Genki), this announcement comes not long after game director Fumihiko Yasuda made controversial comments about Yoshida Shoin. Shoin was a big advocate of the "Jeonghan theory,” which means strengthening Japan’s national power by conquering the Korean Peninsula. Due to Shoin’s beliefs, it’s easy to see why Koreans would be uncomfortable with Yasuda comparing him to Socrates.

While we’re sure some Korean players won’t mind playing Rise of the Ronin, it’s easy to see why these comments may have turned off many. The history Japan and Korea have with one another is messy, so we won’t comment on it, but Yasuda should have chosen his words better.

PlayStation users are fairly excited about Rise of the Ronin, as the gameplay shown off has looked pretty promising thus far. This isn’t exactly a huge surprise since it comes from Team Ninja or Ninja Gaiden fame but the game does look impressive. Hopefully, Sony can work things out so that Korean players can also check this game out, though we’ll have to wait and see.

Korea isn’t exactly lacking when it comes to PlayStation exclusives, as Korean developers are working on Stellar Blade. Most players will agree that Stellar Blade looks like an immediate 10 out of 10, thanks to the focus on swordplay and booty. The detail on booty was intentional too, as these devs also worked on the booty-heavy Goddess of Victory: Nikke gacha game.

Gamers will be able to get Rise of the Ronin late next month, on March 22. This will be a PlayStation exclusive, though it could always get a PC port in the coming months or years.
