Mortal Kombat 1 has been hell for completionists, as the game has one elusive achievement that no one has been able to get. It turns out players didn’t need to get good for this one, as the devs haven’t added the game mode that lets players earn this achievement.

Players need to complete a Titan Battle so they can get an achievement called ‘The Mighty Have Fallen,’ but no one even knows what a Titan Battle is. A fan on the game’s subreddit was able to speak with the support team, who confirmed that Titan Battles haven’t been added yet.

Support for the game claims that Titan Battles will be added ‘later on,’ but gives no timetable on when the content will be released. Until this mode comes to the game, achievement and trophy hunters will be left haunted by the one missing piece they need for a platinum.

Why NetherRealm Studios locked a Mortal Kombat 1 achievement in an upcoming update is an odd decision, to say the least. Cynics could argue that we are in an age of updates and patches, but players should be able to ‘complete’ a game when it comes out.

Completionists have always struggled to get everything in games, especially those that have online multiplayer, but this is the first time they’ve had to wait for it. Titles like Insomniac’s Spider-Man on PS4 added additional trophies once DLC came out, but the platinum could still be achieved by only playing the base game.

Granted, not every gamer is a trophy or achievement hunter, and there’s still plenty to enjoy in Mortal Kombat 1 for those who don’t want to complete everything. Cross-play (Kross-Play if you’re a true MK fan) is coming to the game for current-gen consoles and there’s a ton of single-player content.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC. Our review of the fighter called it a ‘fresh start’ for the series, though players should avoid the Switch version.
