Modern Warfare 2 fan spots unreleased weapon in loading screen

Thanks to regular seasonal updates, the Modern Warfare 2 weapon arsenal continues to expand. Whether it’s a shotgun to dominate close-quarters combat or an LMG perfect for long-distance duels, there’s something for everyone to create the very best loadouts.

As attention turns towards the launch of Season Two Reloaded and the arrival of a brand-new multiplayer map, a loading screen has caught the attention of eagle-eyed fans wondering what future seasons may have in store.

The loading screen sees two Operators holding an unreleased gun some believe could arrive before the current cycle comes to an end.

Are classic guns coming to Modern Warfare 2?

After a closer look at the loading screen in question, Reddit user Apocstern thinks the iconic FAMAS assault rifle could make its way into Modern Warfare 2 once again. The rifle is no stranger to Call of Duty after making its debut in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

Although the seasonal updates for multiplayer haven’t featured any other classic weaponry from previous titles, Infinity Ward has a track record of releasing plenty of recycled content in addition to a sprinkling of new additions to keep the game feeling fresh. The launch of Season Two saw the return of Dome from Modern Warfare 3 while previous updates included the reappearance of the popular Shoot The Ship playlist.

Reusing content from other Call of Duty titles is always good for players that love taking a stroll down memory lane but when Modern Warfare 2 costs at least £55, should the game contain more original content?

Speaking of new content, one member of the community has created a range of new maps with the helping hand of AI and with a bit of fine-tuning, they could slot into the current multiplayer build with ease. As for the return of the FAMAS, we’ll have to wait and see if Infinity Ward adds the rifle to the ever-expanding arsenal.
