The 2023 Call of Duty League season has concluded, marking the end of the Modern Warfare 2 esports for now. Although Season 4 of Infinity Ward’s latest release is in its early stages, there’ll be no more tournament action until the release of the heavily rumoured Modern Warfare 3.
This particular CDL season ended dramatically in Las Vegas, with the top eight teams from the regular season battling it out for millions in prize money.
After four days of world-class action, the New York Subliners have emerged victorious, after dominating the grand finals.
New York Subliners: The best Modern Warfare 2 team in 2023
The Subliners kicked off their campaign with victories against Minnesota RØKKR and OpTic Texas before falling into the elimination bracket at the hands of eventual finalists Toronto Ultra.
New York quickly struck back with a 3-1 victory over defending champions Atlanta FaZe to book their place in the finals, which saw a rematch between them and the Ultra. Instead of Toronto completing another sweep, the Subliners grabbed the brooms to take the victory, thanks to five consecutive map wins.
Taking home the title and a million dollars in prize money, this win marked the Subliners' third tournament victory and signified a historic moment for Call of Duty esports. French player Paco ‘HyDra’ Ruciewiez became the first European player ever to earn a CDL championship ring.

Since the formation of the CDL in 2020, four different teams have managed to lift the trophy. The Subliners join the Dallas Empire, Atlanta FaZe, and the Los Angeles Thieves as winners of the competition, which is set to return later in the year, following an off-season during which all 12 teams can make changes to their starting rosters.
