Although Infinity Ward continues to add more maps to Modern Warfare 2, fans dropping into the action are far from satisfied with the current selection of multiplayer battlegrounds. Even though there are plenty of original designs, the demand for classic maps to return remains.
Ahead of Season Two Reloaded, the developer has already added Shipment and Dome from Modern Warfare 3 into the current map pool in addition to teasing the arrival of a brand-new map as part of the mid-season update.
However, there are several members of the community wanting an iconic Call of Duty 4 map to reappear and it’s hard to argue with them.
A legendary CoD4 map in Modern Warfare 2?
A recent post from Reddit user jackredditlol suggests Crossfire from the very first instalment of the Modern Warfare series should reappear in 2022’s Modern Warfare 2. As expected, there are numerous fans in agreeance.
“Oh yes, Crossfire yes please,” hopes one fan patiently waiting for Infinity Ward to listen to player feedback. Another player demonstrates the reasons why Crossfire is one of the very best Call of Duty maps in history. “You got two spawns, a huge middle lane, and you got the edges of the map where you could sneak up on enemies,” which suits all styles of play perfectly.
On the other hand, there are still plenty of players waiting for 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 maps to arrive. “I just want the OG MW2 maps I was promised. Terminal, Quarry, Rust, and Highrise,” are just a few iconic maps that fans want.
The thought of more classic maps is great for those that want to take a trip down memory lane but it doesn’t compensate for the lack of original designs. Perhaps the classic maps are arriving as part of CoD 2023 which is reportedly carrying over some Modern Warfare 2 content in addition to some new arrivals.
