Although Infinity Ward has shared a wealth of information on what Modern Warfare 2 has in store, leaks are continuing to appear much to the excitement of fans. The sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare is the first title in the franchise to feature a two-year cycle, leaving many to wonder how the developer plans to keep the game feeling fresh.
The campaign is a Call of Duty staple, often showcasing blockbuster sequences alongside a gripping storyline featuring some of the most recognisable characters in all of gaming but once completed, all eyes point towards multiplayer.
However, a recent leak claims Modern Warfare 2 will receive post-launch campaign DLC for the very first time.
Campaign DLC for Modern Warfare 2
According to regular Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope, additional campaign content will make its way to Modern Warfare 2 in late 2023. The leak also states the DLC will come with a map pack featuring battlefields from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games titles.
Usually, fans should take leaks with a pinch of salt until official confirmation appears but this particular leak is corroborated by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier who confirms the next Call of Duty release will arrive in 2024.
So far, very little is known about the campaign DLC for Modern Warfare 2. There’s a possibility of it acting as a continuation of the storyline or it could tie in with the 20th anniversary of the franchise. Call of Duty 4, and 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 received remasters, is a Modern Warfare 3 campaign remaster in the works? Only time will tell.
