Thanks to the extensive Modern Warfare 2 weapon arsenal, there’s a huge range of attachments to customise weapons to suit any style of play. Despite the vast selection, there are some that prove more popular than others.

With Season Two Reloaded officially underway, fans continue to drop into the action despite some berating the objective locations on the new Himmelmatt Expo map. In contrast, the arrival of the Tempus Torrent is proving popular.

Players are always on the lookout for the very best attachments. One eagle-eyed fan has noticed Infinity Ward has adjusted the performance of one barrel that doesn’t exist.

The best Modern Warfare 2 attachment you can't use

Discovered by Reddit user KNEXIUM, the patch notes reveal the developers have buffed the LM Nebula barrel for the popular Lachmann Sub SMG. To their surprise, the attachment isn’t available within the gunsmith.

The LM Nebula barrel first arrived as part of the pre-launch beta but disappeared when the final build of the game launched in November 2022. It’s not appeared in the months since, but one community member thinks they’ve found the reason behind the buff. “They probably buffed it thinking it was bad because nobody uses it, forgetting they didn’t even put it in the damn game.”

Other fans are in agreement with this theory. “I think this is exactly it and what makes it so funny,” comments another confused player. Considering there are players still experiencing random game crashes, the fact Infinity Ward is choosing to change attachments that aren’t even available to use is undoubtedly questionable.

It’s unclear if the adjustment is a deliberate change or unintentional. Perhaps the developer plans on adding it as part of a future update. We’ll have to wait and see.
