Palworld continues to be a successful and controversial game, though many enjoy how different the game is from its main competitor Pokémon. While fans all over the world are allowed to talk about the game, it seems that Japanese celebrities can’t speak about it whatsoever.

According to Tokyo Sports (via VGC), a source working in a Japanese talent agency claims that celebrities have been told not to mention the survival game with creature-catching mechanics. This is being done “out of consideration” for The Pokémon Company, which is a very interesting choice of words.

“We have told our talent not to mention Palworld on social media or in public,” the source said. “This was done out of consideration for the Pokémon side as an agency. This decision was made in consideration of future potential collaborations.”

Even if Palworld is a huge game, as the sales show, it’s still not an entertainment juggernaut like Pokémon is. Pokémon isn’t just games after all, as the IP has also spawned countless amount of animated shows, trading cards, music, and so much more.

Celebrities being told not to mention Palworld is something we didn’t expect since The Pokémon Company didn’t seem to care about the game. Although the company did say that they would be investigating the game for any potential plagiarism, no follow-up on those claims has been revealed.

For those unaware, the Pokémon-style survival game was accused of plagiarism and using AI, due to how some of the creatures are designed. Many have pointed out how some of these Pals just straight up look like Pokémon, with a couple of details changed. For the most part, Pocket Pair, Inc. has seemingly denied the allegations, with its CEO telling angry fans to send death threats to him instead of the employees.
