Breakdown

  • Earthbending was disabled after being available for less than a day in Fortnite
  • Reasons for its vault were the in-game glitches and possibly its ability to rip through buildings
  • Earthbending made its return following its vault and is now available in Fortnite

Fortnite's latest Earthbending Mythic item had to be temporarily disabled shortly after its release. It had some in-game glitches and wasn’t up to fans' expectations, forcing Epic Games to vault it, making only the fire, water, and air elements available.

The much-awaited Fortnite collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced new mechanics in the form of mythic bending scrolls, allowing players to control four different elements during games.

Each element offers unique abilities, with Earthbending providing both offensive and defensive capabilities. It has two abilities, both with cooldown: one is a rock throw that charges up to a total of 5 ranks, and the other is a rock wall, which can be used once every 15 seconds.

The Earthbending Mythic was vaulted on April 12, according to Fortnite content creator iFireMonkey on X.

According to the players, there are several reasons for its vault. Issues include the mythic ability’s on-hit accuracy and the Earthbending ability blocking vision.

Another fan pointed out that the issue was Earthbending being able to hit opponents through built walls, which was kind of unbalanced.

A different theory suggests that Earthbending had minimal or no damage at all on enemies regardless of direct hits, putting players using Earthbending at a disadvantage.

Another bug was that the earth projectile could not be aimed correctly and the higher-tier versions of Earthbending could destroy player-made builds on contact.

Regardless of the actual reason for this vault, some players are unhappy with the event, as abilities outside of gunplay are so overpowered that they make guns seem useless.

The good news for the Earth Nation came fairly soon after the Earth bending vault, as it was re-added quickly after the bugs were fixed. The Fortnite Avatar: Elements Chakra Quest is scheduled to end on May 3, and players have ample time to enjoy this event and the various mythic bending scrolls to the fullest.
